The DeSoto engine was enlarged for 1956 to 329.9 cu in (5.4 L). Bore is 3.72 in (94.5 mm), but stroke was increased to 3.80 in (96.5 mm) and a taller (raised-deck) block was used compared to the earlier Hemi engines. The 1956 was best known for its long, tapering tail fins, often accentuated by a two-tone exterior finish. The interior features bench seating that could accommodate six passengers.
